It's an Honor Just to Have Won

The What Japan Thinks blog of the year contest has concluded and the winners have been announced, and, I won the category of "best personal blog". I'd like to thank all the nice folks who took the time to vote for me and who read my (almost) daily prattle. I'd especially like to thank the mystery person who nominated me in the first place! I'd give each of you a peanut butter cookie if I could.

I've recommended it before, but, if you aren't a regular reader of "What Japan Thinks", I suggest you become one. It's one of the few resources with objective data about Japanese people, their opinions, and behaviors which you can find in English. It's a good resource from which to learn more about Japan and help temper our subjective conclusions and from which to understand the context of our (anecdotal) experiences in Japan.

And, yes, I'd be making this endorsement even if I hadn't won!

Yay! Congratulations! You definitely deserve it; you have great insight to the Japanese psyche from a personal perspective. You blog is a joy to read, and I will put as much of your insight to good use if I ever get the chance to visit Japan.

お祝い! (I think!)

Congratulations Shari! As "mjgolli" stated, you do deserve it! I've only recently become a reader of your blog, but it's very interesting and the best personal blog about Japan I could find!

Congratulations Shari! :D

You winning is truly justified and merited as your blogs are fantastic reads. Your ability to write and describe things, people and thoughts are of a high degree. I feel that I can learn a lot from your shared experiences and your writing style. Thank you and congratulations!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas also. Take care and speak soon! :D

Hullo!
Congrats on winning! It is through that blog that I found your blog. Though I have yet to do a thorough reading of your entries, I am sure it is excellent. Also, I'm always looking for book recommendations, so I will be sure to read "The Perfect Day" and some Kurt Vonnegut. I have a stupid question. Do you have an RSS feed? Thanks.

Fantastic! I can only add to what the other posters have said here.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. It's very, very appreciated.

As for mikawika's question about RSS, I don't have a feed but I probably should look into it.

Thanks again, and I hope you all had an exceptional holiday!

Actually, I think I was your mystery nominator (if that's even a word.) I've enjoyed your blog for a while now, although Safari makes it hard to post on comments on blogger sites. (I think it's Safari. It could be user error.) Congrats!!

Thanks very much, no-longer-mystery-nominator! I appreciate it greatly! And, now I can add you to my blog listings!

I use Firefox so I didn't know that it was hard to comment from Safari!
