Similarly, they're shocked that I taught myself how to use and maintain computers. I sometimes think it's a reflection of a general lack of confidence in themselves and they could self-teach if they believed they had it in them.

That being said, they probably learn better and more thoroughly than others (and with fewer failures) via formal instruction. With cooking though, I think part of the reason they go to school is their mothers cook for them for a long time relative to foreign folks who learn to fend for themselves in the kitchen more early and often.

The flourless cake is yummy, but very intense. It makes you want to eat nothing but bland food. ;-)Sharihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17419851636570519145noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33409496.post-10091585971768912372008-02-15T07:54:00.000+09:002008-02-15T07:54:00.000+09:00Oh, the homemade goodies! The cooking schools here do a booming business this time of year teaching women how to make a chocolate homemade goody for the love of their life, don't they? It kind of baffles me why they can't just find a good recipe and make it at home, but there is the whole idea that you have to be taught something. You can't just learn it on your own.

Your chocolate treat looks yummy.Sherryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08050270762088395325noreply@blogger.com
